No suggestions appear
Check these things in order:
- TypeNext is not paused. Press ⌥⌘T or toggle the menu-bar switch to resume.
- The current app is not paused or blocked. Press ⌥⌘P to unpause, or check Settings → Text Completion to remove it from the blocked list.
- Accessibility is granted. Go to Settings → General and check Accessibility permission is on.
- You have typed at least the minimum number of words. The default is two words; check Settings → Text Completion → Minimum words if suggestions appear later than you'd like.
Suggestion appears in a panel below the line
This is normal. In some apps — Chrome's address bar, VS Code, and web pages in Safari — macOS doesn't report where your cursor is, so TypeNext shows the suggestion in a small panel just below the line to avoid covering your text. It works the same way.
Dictation does nothing
Make sure dictation is turned on:
- Check Settings → Dictation is enabled.
- Grant Microphone permission in Settings → General.
- Verify your voice engine and API key are set correctly in Settings → Dictation.
- Hold the trigger key (usually fn) while speaking. Release to stop.
Microphone is blocked
Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and turn on TypeNext.
Screen reading is not working
Grant Screen Recording permission: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording, then turn on TypeNext and relaunch the app.
Read aloud is silent
Check these:
- Read aloud does not work in secure fields (passwords, sensitive inputs).
- Make sure Settings → Speak is on.
- Select the text you want read aloud before pressing the hotkey.
Model download seems stuck
Downloads resume where they left off. Go to Settings → AI Model and try again. If it keeps failing, check your internet connection.
Voice bar is in the way
Drag it by the handle at the top of the expanded bar. TypeNext remembers where you put it.
