These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Pocket Labs LLC ("Pocket Labs", "we", "us") for the TypeNext application and related services ("TypeNext"). By downloading or using TypeNext, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
1. The app
TypeNext is a macOS application that provides inline writing suggestions, voice dictation, snippets, emoji shortcuts, read-aloud, and related features. We may add, change, or remove features over time to improve the product. TypeNext requires a compatible Mac (Apple Silicon, macOS 14 or later); it is your responsibility to confirm your hardware meets the requirements.
2. Licence
Subject to these Terms, Pocket Labs grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence to install and use TypeNext for its intended purpose. The licence is tied to your plan:
- Free, for one person, with the feature limits described on our pricing page.
- Plus, for one person, licensed for 1 Mac.
- Pro, for one person, licensed for up to 3 Macs.
A subscription is for a single user and may not be shared between people. You may not copy, sell, rent, sublicense, reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the app except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by law. Pocket Labs retains all rights, title, and interest in TypeNext, including all intellectual property.
3. Free trial
Each installation may include a 30-day Pro trial with the full feature set, no credit card required. The trial is available once per user. When it ends, the app reverts to the Free tier automatically unless you subscribe. We may modify or withdraw trial availability at any time; there is no entitlement to a trial.
4. Subscriptions and billing
Plus and Pro are paid subscriptions billed monthly or annually through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us (via Stripe) to charge your payment method the applicable fee, plus any taxes, on a recurring basis. The price shown at checkout is the price that applies. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
5. Cancellation
You can cancel at any time from your account or by contacting us. Cancellation stops the next renewal; your plan remains active through the end of the period you've already paid for, and is not prorated.
6. Refunds
If TypeNext isn't right for you, contact us at support@typenext.app within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund of that payment. This 14-day right applies to the initial subscription, not to subsequent automatic renewals. Outside that window, fees already paid are generally non-refundable except where required by law or granted at our discretion.
7. Price changes
We may change subscription prices. Any change takes effect at your next billing cycle, and we'll give you advance notice. If you don't agree to a new price, you can cancel before it takes effect.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to: use TypeNext for unlawful purposes or to infringe others' rights; attempt to disrupt, overload, or circumvent the app or its licensing; or use automated means to abuse the service. You are responsible for the content you create with the app and for complying with the rules of the services you use it inside.
9. Third-party services and AI models
TypeNext relies on third parties whose own terms apply to your use of them:
- OpenAI for voice transcription, using your own API key. Your use is also governed by OpenAI's terms and usage policies, and you are responsible for any charges OpenAI bills to your account.
- Local models (such as Google's Gemma and other open models) downloaded from Hugging Face, which are provided by their respective owners under their own licences and "as is", without warranties. You agree to comply with the applicable model terms.
- Stripe for payments, subject to Stripe's terms.
Pocket Labs is not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or their output, except as required by law.
10. Disclaimers
TypeNext generates suggestions and transcriptions automatically and may produce inaccurate or unexpected results. You are responsible for reviewing anything before you send or rely on it. TypeNext is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pocket Labs will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of TypeNext. Our total liability for any claim relating to TypeNext will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
12. Termination
You may stop using TypeNext at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the app abusively. On termination, the licence granted to you ends; provisions that by their nature should survive (such as licence restrictions, disclaimers, and liability limits) continue to apply.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We'll post the updated version with a new "last updated" date and, for material changes, give reasonable notice. Continuing to use TypeNext after changes take effect means you accept them.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [your state], United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and any disputes will be handled in the courts located there, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
